The slimline and lightweight Panasonic 36V/250Wh battery fits discreetly within the frame's downtube, reaches maximum capacity from fully depleted in just 3.5 hours and is capable of providing on average up to 60 miles of assistance over variable terrain.

The conveniently situated handlebar-mounted control unit allows you to switch between assistance levels and check the remaining battery charge without removing your hands from the bars.

Press the handlebar-mounted control button once to check the remaining battery capacity, which is displayed using a simple traffic light system: White = 75% capacity or more remaining, Green = 50-75%, Amber = 25-50%, Red = 15-25%, Slow Red Flash = 10-15%, and Rapid Red Flash = 10% or less remaining. You can also keep track of the remaining battery life using the MAHLE SmartBike Systems companion app.

All our e-bikes are pedal-assisted models and always require rider input.

There’s no need to worry; being a pedal-assisted model means you are always in full control. The motor simply provides a little boost of assistance to amplify your pedalling efforts and never takes over.

No. Pedal-assisted electric bikes don't require you to hold a valid driver’s licence, pay road tax or take out insurance.

You simply plug the bike into a household power socket and charge the battery using the supplied charger and cable. (The optional range extender can also charge the main battery while you are on the move.)

The electric components used on our e-bikes are IP54 rated. They can be used in inclement weather conditions and are protected against splashing, but not against full immersion or when subjected to pressurised water from a hose pipe or jet wash. When transporting the bike outside of a vehicle, a waterproof cover should be utilised to protect the electronic components from water damage during such transportation. As with any bike, we recommend thoroughly cleaning and drying the bike after any wet weather ride to ensure the peak performance of your bike.

Alternatively, you can hire the e-bike from E-Venture Bikes in Keswick; the rental cost will be deducted from your purchase if you decide to buy one of our e-bikes.

E-bikes can be purchased via all the major Cycle to Work scheme providers. The government has even abolished the £1000 limit, making obtaining an e-bike on Cycle to Work more beneficial than ever.

The MAHLE X35 SmartBike system assists you up to a maximum of 15mph, at which point (by law, as with all e-bikes in the UK) the assistance cuts out. If you drop back below 15mph, the system will re-engage until turned off.

The battery range of the CGR AL e depends on several factors, including rider weight, route profile and temperature. A rider of 90kg on a varied route, including climbs, descents and flats, can expect an approximate range of up to 60 miles. An optional range extender is also available for all of our e-bikes, effectively doubling the bike's available range.

The CGR AL e includes discreet mounts to fit a rear pannier rack, handling all your luggage-carrying needs.

There's ample clearance for 650b x 47mm or 700c x 45mm tyres without mudguards or 40mm with guards fitted.

The MAHLE SmartBike system requires a bolt-on fitting rear wheel; the front is an M12x120mmx1.5 bolt-thru axle.

A medium-sized frame fitted with SRAM Apex weighs approximately 13.5kgs, making it one of the lightest e-bikes of its type in the world. We also make the lightest range of e-road bikes in the world.

The battery can be accessed via the bottom bracket. The press-fit bottom bracket has to be removed first to facilitate this removal. The motor is also easy to access and replace. We recommend that a trained mechanic carry out this work.

The battery can reach up to 500 charging cycles while retaining up to 90% of its capacity, as long as its care and maintenance are adequate. Please refer to our battery care blog for our top tips and recommendations to maximise battery life. Use only the original MAHLE charger supplied with your bike.

Disconnect the cable to the rear wheel motor by unclipping the connector on the chainstay. Then, use an 8mm Allen key to loosen the nuts on the rear axle and reverse the process when the puncture has been repaired.

The frame is warranted against manufacturing defects for a period of 3-years. All other parts are covered by the manufacturer's standard warranty. The MAHLE system carries a 2-year warranty.

Due to the many different systems people use, pedals aren't included. However, you can add a set of pedals to your order when configuring the bike.
